Want to rent an airplane? No Problem!

Pilots who would like to rent an airplane from Fly By Knight will need to be checked out by one of our instructors in the make and model of the aircraft you plan to rent. The time the checkout will take depends on the proficiency of the pilot and the insurance requirements of the individual aircraft. Fly By Knight’s aircraft are fully insured with hull and liability but there is a deductible which would be the responsibility of the renter in the event of a mishap. Although not required, many of our customers carry renters insurance to cover the deductible. We’d be happy to walk you through various policies that our customers have had good experiences with.

Rentals at night are only allowed if the customer is an instrument rated pilot. Overnight rentals/rentals of more than 12 hours per day are allowed but there is a minimum rental policy in effect for those flights. The minimum flight time is 2 hours per day during the week (Mon through Fri) and 3 hours per day on weekends (Sat & Sun). The minimums are determined upon departure. Upon returning, if the pilot does not meet the minimum rental hours he/she must pay fifty percent of the difference. For example, if the rental minimums were 6 hours and the renter only flew 4.0 hours, he or she would be billed an additional 1.0 hours.

All aircraft rates include fuel and oil. There are no added fuel surcharges.
​If fuel or oil is purchased outside of FBK, FBK will reimburse at FBK’s current rate or the cost of the fuel – whichever is less.
