Our Instructors

Fly By Knight's certified flight instructors have thousands of hours of piloting and teaching experience. We provide training for the Private Pilot, Instrument and Commercial licenses. We also provide Bienniel Flight Reviews, Instrument Competency checks, insurance, complex and high-performance check-outs, photography and orientation flights.

Sharon Knight

Sharon Knight devotes the majority of her time to initial Private Pilot students and Instrument training. She is very familiar with late model Mooneys and specializes in high performance checkouts.

Mike Nelson

Mike Nelson has been an active aviator since 1963, accumulating over 33,000 hours of flight time as a general aviation pilot, much of that time has been giving instruction. Mike holds CFI, CFII and MEI instructor ratings and is happiest providing multi-engine instruction in our Grumman Cougar.

Clay Nichols

Ryan Owens

Ryan is a graduate of Northwestern state University. He is CFI, CFII, and MEI and has been instructing for 2 years. He enjoys teaching brand new students all the way through experienced pilots getting their instrument rating. Ryan also instructs in our Grumman Cougar for multi-engine ratings.

Michael Sparcella

Michael Sparcella is a graduate of the aviation department at Louisiana Tech, Ruston LA.

Richard Hages

Ricky is a graduate of the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor's of Science in Aeronautics. He is a CFI and CFII. He enjoys aerobatics and teaching all kinds of students.
